It's hard to let go of subsidies. I suppose the thinking here is that the purpose of the subsidy is to stimulate demand. Once demand has reached a certain level, the subsidy is no longer necessary. The question, then, would be: Have we reached that point yet? I don't think so, but I'm willing to concede that Washington has better economists than I. :)

Still, seems unfair to leave the heavy vehicle subsidy in place while capping the hybrid subsidy. Sheesh.
